The Express tallied 14 runs Sunday afternoon, May 28, hosting the Cold Spring Rockies. The Express scored 3 runs in each of the first three innings, starting off hot and keeping up the steam.
For the Express, Scott Marquardt and Adam Beyer each hit homeruns. Additional runs were scored by Austin Ruehle (2), Scott Marquardt (2), Adam Beyer (2), Brian Marquardt (2), Troy Filzen (2), Joey Von Wahlde (2), and one apiece for Zach Sufka and Brooks Marquardt. RBI were hit by Scott Marquardt (3), Adam Beyer (3), Kyle Winter (3), and Zach Sufka (2).
The Rockies answered back with 6 runs, but it was far too little too late. Nick Skluzacek hit a home run in the sixth; he also hit a double in the eighth, and 3 RBI on the game. Blake Holbrook hit 2 RBI, and Calvin Kalthoff 1. Besides the one homer, additional runs were scored by Jordan Neu, Calvin Kalthoff, David Jonas, Trevor Lardy, and Marshall Wirtzfeld.
Matt Dingmann earned the win, pitching 7 innings with Scott Sufka and Brooks Marquardt pitching in relief. Jordan Neu was tagged with the loss, pitching 6.33 innings; Trevor Lardy was relief.
