Extra police patrol for the holidays

·

Meeker County Sheriff’s office will participate in a state-wide mobilization Dec. 19-Jan. 5, to crack down on drinking and driving in an effort to keep our roads even safer during the holiday season. Aside from the pain and devastation caused by crashes, it is even more painful to find out the accident was caused by alcohol use and could have been prevented. In addition to this, alcohol-related deaths and injury accidents on Meeker County roadways cost nearly $400,000 last year alone. These costs are shared by every taxpayer and insurance policy holder. The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office mission statement, in part, lists protecting citizens from the adverse effects of crimes, motor vehicle accidents, and exposure to dangerous situations. Meeker County deputies uphold this mission every day. Apprehending impaired drivers is part of this mission and is very appropriate in each of these mission areas. Please drive sober, especially during this holiday season, and let’s make 2004 a safe year on the road.
