Family history writing contest for Stearns County youth

·

The St. Cloud Area Genealogists (SCAG) is sponsoring a family history writing contest as a way for area youth to strengthen a sense of identity, improve research skills, and discover the circumstances that shaped their families. Students in public, parochial, or home schools in Stearns County are encouraged to participate.

The student must interview someone age 60 or older about a favorite memory growing up.

Entries will be divided into three categories: 4th to 6th grade, 7th to 9th grade, and 10th to 12th grade.

For each category, there will be three winners who will receive $100, $50, and $25.

The holidays are a great time to connect with family members and share stories. More information about the contest criteria can be found at scagmn.org/scag-projects or email info@scagmn.org. Entries must be received by Jan. 21, 2025.
