Fatal car crash in Holdingford

Wednesday, Dec. 9, about 3 p.m., the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a car crash involving a pedestrian. The accident was reported to be on county Road 17 at the intersection with River Street. Holdingford Rescue, Gold Cross Ambulance and Lifelink Helicopter were also dispatched to the site.

Responders found that Theresa Litchy, age 56 of Holdingford had been travelling eastbound on C.R. 17 in Holdingford in a 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass. Her car collided with a 1996 Plymouth Voyager Van. The van was driven by 56-year-old Frederick Michael Doble from Royalton who was travelling westbound on C.R. 17. While Doble was out inspecting the damage to the cars, he was struck by a westbound 1993 Chevrolet Sports Van driven by Larry Litchy, age 56 of Holdingford.

Doble was treated at the scene by rescuers, but they were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The Minnesota State patrol also is assisting the investigation of this crash. Slippery conditions may have contributed to the accidents.
