FFA cleans Lake Carnelian Beach

·

The Kimball FFA Chapter has teamed up with Lake Carnelian residents to clean and restore the Lake Carnelian Beach to its original beauty. When they began the project the beach was in serious condition; there were weeds all along the sand and large rocks scattered everywhere. It looked more like a ditch than a place to go swimming. The groups – which include about 15 FFA members each time – spend an hour or two each Wednesday to work at restoring the beach by picking weeds, removing rocks and leveling the sand. So far, most of the weeds have been removed and all of the rocks have been hauled away. The beach is about half done, and the groups will continue to work together until the beach has been restored. They expect to finish the restoration soon. If you would like to contribute to the restoration of the Lake Carnelian Beach, send donations to the Lake Carnelian Beach fund at the State Bank of Kimball. To get to the Lake Carnelian Beach, head north of Kimball on Hwy. 15 and turn right onto 163rd Street. The beach is on the left. Submitted by Chris Sheehan 2004-05 FFA Reporter
