FFA day at the capitol Feb. 26

·

FFA members from across Minnesota will be proactive citizens as they congregate at the Minnesota State Capitol Thursday, Feb. 26. Minnesota FFA Day at the Capitol is a chance for students to meet their Legislators, discuss vital issues surrounding agricultural education, and see government in action. In its seventh year of success, FFA members and advisors will start the day at 8 a.m. in the Transportation Building cafeteria. There they will be welcomed by representatives from the Minnesota FFA, Minnesota Association of Agricultural Educators (MAAE) and the Minnesota Agricultural Education Leadership Council (MAELC). The majority of the day will consist of FFA members meeting local Legislators and witnessing the action on both the Senate and House floor sessions. Students will showcase their science knowledge by displaying their agri-science displays throughout the day. Many of the displays have received state and national recognition. These displays will be in the State Office Building Press Room. Legislators, staff, and the general public are encouraged to visit these displays to see firsthand the high level of achievement that these students have made. FFA members will be joined by several Legislators from 12:30-2 p.m. in the State Office Building Room 500. Legislators will address the FFA members and will hold a question and answer period. This will also be a good time for FFA members to hear about a various number of topics that Legislators are dealing with during the 2004 session. FFA Day at the Capitol is sponsored and organized by the Minnesota FFA, Minnesota Association of Agricultural Educators (MAAE) and the Minnesota Agricultural Education Leadership Council (MAELC).
