EV-W-K girls CMC champs Eden Valley-Watkins-Kimball girls varsity cross country team took first place in the CMC meet held at the Kimball Golf Course Thursday, Oct. 9. Holly Hansen, cross country head coach, said “The girls came close in 2006, finishing second to Pierz by one   point, and 2007 second to Maple Lake by two points. The girls have worked hard and were determined to win the CMC this year. They did a great job. I’m proud of our team. We have a good group of girls and boys.” The girls varsity team results were Eden Valley-Watkins-Kimball first with 35 points; Pierz, second, 41 points; Maple Lake, third, 80 points; Rockford, fourth, 82 points; Royalton, fifth, 115 points; Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted and St. John’s Prep had incomplete teams and BBE didn’t have any girls varsity runners.  Eden Valley-Watkins-Kimball girls varsity individual results were: Justine Hilsgen, first, 16:16; Tanya Maciejewski, second, 16:34.3; Molly Hesse, third, 16:34.9; Renee Berg, 10th, 17:02; Raelyn Callander, 20th, 18:12; Kelsey Vigoren, 29th, 19:03; and Jennifer Notch, 30th, 19:05. Justine Hilsgen, Tanya Maciejewski, Molly Hesse and Renee Berg were CMC first team All-Conference. In the boys varsity race, Jacob Asfeld finished 35th with a time of 21:40. Beth Libbesmeier finished first in the girls JV race with a time of 19:10; Alex Theis, fifth; Sara Powell, seventh; Brook Mertens, 10th; Kristina Mackereth, 13th; Cassandra Loch, 14th; Paige Peglow, 15th; Julie Lochen, 16th, Bridget Billo, 17th; and Natalie Whitcomb, 18th. The JV girls also took first place as a team with 18 points. In the boys JV race, Nick Koltes took first place with a time of 21:07, Nathan McCann finished eighth in 22:05. The girls junior high individual finishers were Rose Ruprecht, 10th; Kelsey Libbesmeier, 11th; Emily Whitcomb, 16th; and Ashley Trout, 17th. The cross country team travels to Howard Lake Tuesday, Oct. 14. Thursday, Oct. 23, the section meeting will be held in New London. We would like to thank the Kimball Golf Course for letting us host our home meet and the CMC meet there. Thanks to all the people who helped run the meets.
