Teacher Appreciation is May 7-13

Teachers give our children a boost of confidence when they need it, extra help solving problems when having trouble, and a welcoming presence when everything else gets out of control. It?Äôs time to recognize and thank our dedicated EV-W staff. I?Äôm sure you?Äôre aware; the EV-W classrooms host some very talented and hardworking teachers that are nurturing the next generation of thinkers, doers, and dreamers. Our staff is responsible to teach and model the subjects and skills that are preparing our youth to take on the challenges of the future. I?Äôm extremely proud of our EV-W staff and feel fortunate to have the opportunity to work beside them as we pursue a brighter tomorrow.

Though we can?Äôt thank them enough, please join me during National Teacher Appreciation Week to thank and recognize our dedicated EV-W staff. Take some time during the week of May 7-13 to share your appreciation and say ?Äúthank you?Äù to those special educators in your life.

Politics

As our legislators and students go back to work following the Easter break, we will all get extremely busy with plans and deadlines for the end of another political session and school year.

Please keep in mind and continue to advocate for our school-community priorities of a tax bill that includes the Ag2School tax credit, along with additional funds to the pupil formula allowance. Lawmakers have less than five weeks to pass bills that will benefit rural Minnesota schools and communities, and to get their work done on time. Remember, your voice and advocacy matters.

Facilities

You?Äôve asked, and we?Äôve listened. I?Äôve had a recent request to host an afternoon public informational meeting regarding facilities. I?Äôll be reviewing our schedules and availability to potentially set an afternoon meeting during the third week in May. Once confirmed, I?Äôll get that information out to the public. We want to do our best to provide the public with the tools and information in preparation to making an informed vote on June 6. I encourage you to familiarize yourself with these tools and let us know if you have any questions.

What is the district asking? We?Äôre asking our residents to vote on a ballot question that would improve safety and security throughout the district for decades to come. You can learn more by visiting our webpage at www.evw.k12.mn.us, and look under the News tab. The Facilities link will provide a number of helpful materials including a Community Task Force report, Review and Comment from MDE, fact sheet, voting information, a tax impact calculator, and other resources. You can also provide feedback or ask questions by phone (320)
