Referendum Results
Tuesday?Äôs elections results were mixed for many rural Minnesota school districts. Typically, operating levies pass at a higher rate than capital bonds that are used for new buildings and facility improvements. We were one of 17 rural Minnesota districts running a renewal of an existing levy with zero tax impact, and 100 percent of those renewals were approved by Minnesota voters.
Obviously, we?Äôre very pleased with the Special Election results and the support our EV-W school-communities demonstrated at the polls favoring the renewal of our existing pupil referendum. It?Äôs very reassuring to have 83 percent of district voters favor the referendum, and it provides our professional staff with a community stamp-of-approval on our educational programming and opportunities, and our vision to serve as an educational model of excellence.
On behalf of the EV-W school board, administration and staff, we want to thank our supportive communities, and ensure long-term fiscal responsibility that sustains academic quality and student growth.
Staff Honors
It was a great pleasure to take part in the 20th Annual Leaders of Educational Excellence Awards banquet held at the Rivers Edge Center in St. Cloud. Each year, St. Cloud Resource Training and Solutions sponsors the event to recognize outstanding educator performances throughout Minnesota. Please commend our retired EV-W instructors, Kathy Pauls and Mary Huberty on being selected by their peers as the district?Äôs recipients for the Leadership in Educational Excellence Award. This LEEA honor is presented to staff who have gone above and beyond in providing quality teaching experiences and opportunities for their students. Each of our EV-W recipients received a plaque and certificate at the
Nov. 4 event which recognizes the commitment, sacrifice, and innovative instruction required to be an effective educator. We commend Kathy, Mary, and all of our EV-W instructors for having a positive impact on our school and community.
Senior Spotlight
The EV-W School District would like to recognize Alexa Mackedanz, daughter of Alisa and Harold. Alexa admires her mom, Alisa for having all of the quality characteristics of a positive role-model, including a positive and inspiring demeanor, and of course, exceptional cooking skills. Currently, Alexa is enrolled in three college level courses, Tri-M,
Aquila, Student Council, and served as manager to the volleyball team. She?Äôs extremely involved at St. Anthony?Äôs Church and works as a CNA at Hilltop Health Care Center in Watkins. The EV-W administration and staff commend Alexa on her great start to the 2015-16 school year. Congratulations!
