By Mark Messman, Superintendent EV-W Schools
As the seasons continue to change and fall has hit us full speed, I want you to know that our staff and administrative team is working hard to challenge our students and prepare them for a successful future. With community support we will continually encounter and overcome the numerous legislative mandates, difficult financial short fallings, and the academic demands set before us. Our passionate staff has a vision and expectation to effectively educate each child and model academic excellence in the region. Regardless of the temperature and climate outside, I assure you, the EVW educators are focused and ready to take on new challenges while preparing each child for future demands. “Thank you” EVW staff for what you accomplish each and every day, and thanks to the EVW communities for supporting our academic mission of excellence.
Support Staff Recognition: It’s my pleasure to recognize the 6th Annual Support Staff recipients sponsored by Resource Training and Solutions. I’d like to commend Kelly Salzl and Tim Hartfiel for their representation of Educational Excellence in the EVW School District. This annual recognition banquet also provides us with the timely opportunity to recognize and honor all of the school support staff who continually go above and beyond their required duties, including our bus drivers, custodians, buildings & grounds personnel, cooks, educational and media/technology support staff, and clerical support for their commitment and dedicated service to the students and staff of EVW. “Thank You!”
Referendum Updates: I’d like to thank all of the attendees that participated in the referendum informational meeting held in the high school Oct. 2. We had approximately 30 EVW stakeholders that were provided with information, floor plans, and budgets on the proposed facility plans to improve safety, security, and our failing mechanical systems. Information was provided by Architect, Jim Wilson, from Wendel and Associates, Preston Eurhle, Construction Manager, from RA Morton, and Shelby Quay, Financial Advisor, from Ehlers and Associates.
As a reminder, all of the information and details on the upcoming November 6th referendum and facility plan can be found on the district’s website under the facilities tab. If using the online tax calculator, do not use commas or periods when entering the estimated market value of your property. I would encourage you to check out the website, contact a school representative, or give me a call if you have any questions about the needed improvements to our aging facilities. “Thanks for your support!”
Senior Spotlight: The EVW School District would like to recognize Olivia Schleper, daughter of Kerry and Dean. Olivia is a spirited and inspirational leader in cross country, basketball, and softball. Her dedicated work ethic and attention to detail has prepared her to excel in the academic and athletic venues. Following high school graduation, Olivia plans on attending St. Cloud Technical College to complete her generals and then decide on a major to pursue. The EVW administration, faculty and staff are extremely proud of Olivia and her many accomplishments. Congratulations!
