Get green during National 4-H Week

·

What does it mean to be green? It’s the way kids feel participating in 4-H – like they’re a part of something alive and moving. Green means go, growing and action. Join in a green celebration Oct. 5-11 as part of National 4-H Week. Don’t be scared because you don’t live on a farm – most 4-H kids don’t. You can be green and grow wherever you live. See your potential in 4-H! Through a partnership with top-notch volunteers, Junior Leader teen-aged 4-H youth, U of M Extension staff and research-based educational curriculum, Stearns County 4-H youth ages 5-18 achieve their personal best in an environment whereby youth: o Feel a sense of safety and structure. o Experience active participation, group membership and belonging. o Develop self-worth through meaningful contribution. o Experiment to discover self, gain independence and gain control over one’s life. o Develop significant, quality relationships with peers and at least one adult. o Discuss conflicting values and form their own. o Feel pride of competence and mastery. o Expand their capacity to enjoy life and know that success is possible. Join 4-H and explore your area of interest in life at your pace with other youth and adults who are excited about the same things you are. Visit 4-H at the Stearns County Extension Office, 3400 1st St. N., Midtown Office Building, Suite 400, St. Cloud, MN 56303.
