Feb. 13, 2007 Kimball 45 – Mora 68 The Kimball girls’ basketball team made the long road trip to Mora to play a good Mustang team. Kimball came out on fire, taking a 10-2 lead, but soon fell into foul trouble and put Mora to the line. Mora shot 25 of 35 free throws for the game. Giving up 25 free throw baskets is tough, especially when you are an aggressive team like us. We were in that game. They went on a run, and we couldn’t get back. The girls played hard. Kimball was led in scoring by Brittnay Simmons with 12 points. Kayla Kastanek added seven points, and was five for five from the free throw line. Mindy Hurrle and Brianna Rosenow had six points each. Holly Garding, Felicia Menson added four points. Krystal Mackereth, Mara Rippentrop and Amanda Kuseske each added a basket to round off the scoring. Feb. 15, 2007 Pierz 68 – Kimball 39 Pierz came to Kimball on Thursday night for a conference game. Kimball started the game slow and played catchup the whole game. The girls played tough and very aggressive in the second half and outscored Pierz in the half. Mara Rippentrop took two charges in the second half and that seemed to get the girls fired up both on the court and the girls on the bench. We have to come out with the same attitude to start the game as we have when we finish it. Kimball was led in scoring by Brianna Rosenow’s eight points. Felicia Menson had seven points and 13 rebounds. Mindy Hurrle also added seven points. Kayla Kastanek had four points and 10 rebounds. Mara Rippentrop added four points, Amanda Kuseske had three points. Brittnay Simmons, Krystal Mackereth and Justine Ruehle finished the scoring with two points each. Kimball was to take on Holdingford on Feb. 20 at home and then travels to Maple Lake on Feb. 23 to finish the regular season. Kimball starts playoffs against the #1 seed Eden Valley-Watkins at EVW on March 1; game time is set for 7:30 p.m. Nathan Schwieters, head girls basketball coach Kimball High School
