Jan. 23, 2007 Kimball 36 – Pierz 60 Kimball girls’ basketball team visited Pierz on Tuesday night. Kimball stayed in it, but foul trouble put some players on the bench and put Pierz on the free throw line. If we could win a first half, we would be able to hang with these teams, but only winning the second half won’t get it done. Kimball was led in scoring by Felicia Menson’s 11 points, six rebounds, Mindy Hurrle had nine points and Brianna Rosenow had five points. with eight rebounds. Other scores for Kimball were Brittnay Simmons, two points, seven assists; Krystal Mackereth, four points; Mara Rippentrop; one point; Amanda Kuseske, four points, five assists, four steals and six rebounds. Kimball was to travel to Eden Valley Watkins on Friday night to finish the long, tough road trip. The girls are seeing improvement and theie attitude through this season is great. I think they are excited about the future and understand they have to go through seasons like this to get to where they want to be. Jan. 26, 2007 Kimball 33 – EV-W 78 Kimball girls’ basketball team played at EV-W on Friday night. EV-W shot the ball extremely well. Kimball shot well too, but EV-W half-court trap defense caught the Cubs offguard a few too many times. We played well, just had too many turnovers and didn’t run the court well. Our post got lots of shot, we just couldn’t get them to fall down. Kimball was led by Mindy Hurrle’s 10 points and Brittnay Simmons nine points. Krystal Mackereth and Amanda Kuseske each added four points; Justine Ruehle, Felicia Menson and Brianna Rosenow each had a basket. Post players Felicia Menson and Brianna Rosenow pulled down 11 rebounds together. Upcoming games: Thursday, Feb 2 – Rockford (at home); Tuesday Feb. 6 – at HLWW; Thursday, Feb. 8 – St. Johns Prep (at home); and Senior Night – Friday, Feb 9 – BBE (at home).
