Gottschalk selected as finalist for national FFA award

The National FFA Organization recently announced that Travis Gottschalk of Kimball has been selected as a national finalist for the National FFA Proficiency Award in Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance- Entrepreneurship/Placement. Gottschalk is one of only four people chosen to compete for this award at the national finals in October during the FFA national convention in Louisville, Ky. The proficiency awards recognize outstanding student achievement in agribusiness gained through establishment of a new business, working for an existing company or otherwise gaining hands-on career experience. The Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance – Entrepreneurship/Placement Award is one of 48 proficiency program areas FFA members can participate in to develop valuable experience and leadership skills at the local, state and national levels. Gottschalk is a member of the Litchfield FFA Chapter. He became eligible for the national award after winning the Minnesota state FFA competition earlier this year. This award is sponsored by CARQUEST Corporation, CARQUEST Filters-CARQUEST Gas-kets, as a special project of the National FFA Foundation. In recognition of being a finalist, Gottschalk will receive a plaque and $250. The national winner of the Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance- Entrepreneurship/Placement Award will receive and additional $250 during a special ceremony at the national FFA convention.
