To showcase rural living and attract talent
The Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation (GSDC) in partnership with CentraCare Health System is privileged to announce that our region has been selected to be featured in Season 2 of the acclaimed series “My Town,” airing later this year. Produced by The Brookshire Company, and directed and hosted by three-time Emmy Award Winner Cory Hepola, the docuseries aims to dispel common myths about rural living while highlighting the unique charm, opportunities, and livability of the greater St. Cloud region. The series serves as a powerful tool to attract talent and inspire individuals to make their home in Central Minnesota.
Building on the success of its inaugural season, which included a memorable episode featuring Willmar, “My Town” dives deep into the heart of rural communities, sharing authentic stories that showcase innovation, resilience, and the unmatched sense of community that defines these regions. Our region’s episode will focus on its vibrant economy, quality healthcare, thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem, and the diverse recreational and cultural offerings that make it a hub for families and professionals alike.
“We’re honored to partner with CentraCare and ‘My Town’ to share the Greater St. Cloud’s story with a broader audience,” said NeTia Bauman, CEO & President of the GSDC. “This episode will dispel outdated perceptions of rural living and illustrate why our region is not only a great place to visit, but an exceptional place to live, work, and grow.”
The partnership with CentraCare underscores the region’s commitment to excellence in healthcare, a critical factor for individuals and families considering relocation. The episode will highlight CentraCare’s new partnership with the U of Minnesota to open a Regional Medical School Campus to educate, train, and expand rural healthcare, as well as its role as a top regional employer, and its impact on community well-being.
“At CentraCare, we’re proud to be part of creating vibrant, thriving communities and making rural life healthier,” said CentraCare President and CEO, Ken Holmen, M.D. “Through this partnership with ‘My Town,’ we’re honored to highlight the vital role healthcare plays – not only in fostering a connected and welcoming region, but also in shaping the future of medicine by training new physicians and providing educational opportunities to ensure a strong healthcare workforce for Central Minnesota for years to come.”
“My Town” has been widely praised for its ability to authentically capture the essence of rural communities, combining beautiful visuals with heartfelt narratives. The Greater St. Cloud feature will include footage of the area’s natural landscapes, attractions, and community members, creating a compelling invitation for viewers to envision their lives here.
“There’s something for everyone in central Minnesota,” said Cory Hepola, director & host of “My Town.” “In St. Joseph you are in close proximity to a first-class healthcare system in CentraCare, unique small businesses, and top-notch education. Plus, the town is centered in this diverse central Minnesota region bursting with arts & culture. I’ve driven past the St. Joseph sign for years, so it’s about time I stop to experience this hidden gem.”
Production for this episode is slated to begin in Summer 2025, with an anticipated release date in early winter. The series will be available for streaming and broadcast nationwide, offering an unparalleled platform to tell Greater St. Cloud’s story.
