The Heartland Symphony Orchestra (HSO) is proud to present the winter concert entitled “Holiday Spectacular.” The concert will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 in Brainerd, and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7 in Little Falls. It’s that time of the year when we celebrate snow, winter, holidays, and the great music that goes with them. The Heartland Symphony Orchestra will usher in the season with a festive array of your favorite seasonal works, including “Winter Wonderland,” “Sleigh Ride” and “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire).” As an added feature, this year’s program will include selections from Handel’s “Messiah” featuring the Legacy Chorale of Greater Minnesota. Written in 1741, Handel’s “Messiah” has endured as the most popular oratorio ever. Not only is it brimming with memorable melodies and rousing choruses, but the craftsmanship with which Handel created this masterwork is unparalleled. This performance will feature choral and orchestral movements from Part One (Prophecy; Nativity) which deals with Biblical events leading up to the birth of Christ. And, as always, don’t forget your caroling voice for the annual sing-a-long. To get a season brochure or to order tickets by phone, call (800) 826-1997 or (320) 632-0960. This program is made possible in part by a grant provided by the Musser Foundation, Target Stores and the Five Wings Arts Program through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature.
