Hello from the Hilltop
Hello to everyone out there! I hope everyone enjoyed the nice weather we had in September. Jack Frost took care of things to help the farmers get the harvest complete. We hope they got a good crop. There is a lot of work for the farmers to get ready before winter. And it’s creeping up on us. Then school started and I wonder if the kids are all happy to be back to see their friends and teachers again. The amazing Huberty Band never fails to come on the first Thursday evening of the month. Residents and friends all gather for their great music and singing. We had a good Resident Council meeting. Heidi, our social worker, came to talk to us about residents’ rights. It was a good refresher. We had a fundraiser and we sold some apple turnovers that everyone enjoyed. In fact, they were sold before we got them out of the oven. Then we had our friend Maynard Nathe come one afternoon to entertain us with his good music and singing. He joined us for our coffee social and visited with the folks. The Wandering Wardrobe came one afternoon. It sure helps the folks who cannot get over to shop. The staff or family members pick out clothes. The change of season means heavier clothing; and the styles of clothes always change. A few of us went out for lunch one day to the Family Inn, to get a tour and enjoy something different. The food was delicious, and it was great to visit with different people. We finally got some welcomed rain. Three-and-a-half inches really helps. We could have used a lot more but we’re thankful for what we got. Every time the Twins ball games were on, we had our eyes and ears glued to the television. They played well but the Yankees were a little bit better. Now we’re enjoying the Vikings and we’ll see how far they can go. At our coffee social one afternoon we were served a beverage and ice cream cones. Boy, was that ever a great treat! Thanks to Barb our hairdresser in honor of her fifth year with us. Thanks, Barb! We had a picnic and fishing outing at the park by the river in Cold Spring. It was a very windy day. We couldn’t catch a fish or even a minnow, but we had a good picnic lunch. We ate too much, so we actually skipped the Dairy Queen. One afternoon we went to an apple orchard near Dassel. It was a nice day to visit the shop and see all of the goodies made from apples, we all enjoyed that. Before September slips by too fast, we want to remember our folks who had a birthday in September. We all enjoyed cake and ice cream and beverages at the party. Well, this is it for the time. Enjoy each day to the fullest and God Bless.
