The Highway 55 overpass (bridge) is on schedule according to Micky Klasen, project supervisor. Currently cars are detoured around the overpass, located between Kimball and Watkins, while the replacement is being accomplished. The substucture units (pile driving, two piers and two abutments) are complete for the new bridge. The beams for the new bridge are scheduled to be placed on Monday, Aug. 8. The superstructure units (deck, railing, overlay and approach panel) will be constructed afterwards.  The earthwork and culverts for the roadway to the west of the new bridge should be completed this week. The earthwork and culvert installations for the roadway to the east side of the new bridge will begin this week. After the bridge and earthwork are completed the roadway will be surfaced with bituminous, guard rail will be installed, and signing and striping will be done.  The project should be completed and the bridge open for traffic by mid- to late October.
