Hilltop Care Center celebrated its silver anniversary Tuesday, May 18, with a variety of activities open to the community. Nearly 380 people attended the event at the care center in Watkins. Hilltop Care Center first opened in Watkins in 1979; two years after a group of local citizens realized the need for such a facility in town. Prior to its establishment, elderly citizens had to move out of town to find a facility that offered the special sevices and care they needed. Since its founding, Hilltop Care Center has changed ownership twice, and is now owned by Paynesville Area Health Care System. Festivities last Tuesday included a review of the center’s history, as well as a presentation of its mission by (PAHCS) CEO, Steve Moburg. Games were also organized for children, and Norb Koshiol provided entertainment by playing the accordion. The purpose of this survey is to assess the facility’s progress toward meeting the quality and client satisfaction goals of Paynesville Area Health Care System. One objective Hilltop Care Center has set relating to quality is to conduct annual resident and family satisfaction surveys that achieve a 90-percent score or higher in all surveyed areas, including quality of care and services. Surveys were sent to all Hilltop Care Center resident families in the first quarter of 2004, and distributed to residents at Resident Council. Of the surveys returned, the overall satisfaction rate was 98 percent – up from 97 percent in 2003. All surveyed areas met the goal of 90 percent, with the lowest individual score being 94, compared to last year at 92 percent. There were alsomany positive comments from residents and their families. “These continually improving satisfaction scores are a direct indication of the dedicated team of employees we have at Hilltop Care Center,” said administrator Jay Ophoven. “Our staff’s main goal is to provide the best patient care and customer service to our residents and their families.” For more information about Hilltop Care Center, call (320) 764-2300, or visit www.pahcs.com.
