History Matters

Glimpses of the Prairie old Kimball history will continue in two weeks, on Aug. 21. Thank you, readers, for your feedback on this wonderfully revised series of our oldest history from member Duane Stanley. Comments are always appreciated. This column is brought to you regularly by the Kimball Area Historical Society. It’s not your imagination. It’s really calling you to “Supper in the Park” Friday, Aug. 8, between 5 and 8 p.m., serving hot roast beef, homemade buns, gourmet hot dogs, potato salad, beans, beverage and dessert, all at reasonable prices. Now playing: The third annual History Exhibit, in air-conditioned Kimball City Hall on Main Street. Sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words. There are well over 100 framed pictures presented at this exhibit, dozens of history story displays, numerous showcases full of Kimball memories, ancient wooly mammoth tusk, ancient glacial rock, the “Old Hat Contest”, huge Kimball School display, the Civil War Display complete with live costumed interpreter, the ever-popular model railroad complete with live engineer-interpreter, and much more. Like the pictures, everything waiting for you depicts the priceless and irreplaceable historic legacy that is worth saving. Want proof? Then come and see what’s already been preserved which has made Kimball great. Discover the heritage we share is worthy of our best efforts to save it. Perhaps you’ll agree this truly makes a lasting difference on behalf of the way of life we all cherish here.
