Since 1985, diversiCOM Melrose Telephone Company has invested in central Minnesota youth through the L.H. Arvig Memorial Scholarship program. More than 100 high school seniors have benefited from this award. Recipients must meet certain criteria in the area of academics and future career plans. A $1,000 scholarship is presented to one student from each of the high schools in the diversiCOM service area. Kimball High School’s winner is Jeffrey Hunt, son of James and Lori Hunt. He plans to further his education studying chemistry and mathematics at the University of Minnesota. Simone Haider is the recipient chosen from the Melrose Area High School. She is the daughter of Terry and Colleen Haider. Simone plans to attend the College of St. Benedict’s. Her planned course of study is Mathematics. Patrick Notch is this year’s winner from Eden Valley-Watkins High School. Patrick will be attending St. Cloud State University to pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering. He is the son of Steven and Deborah Notch.
