Sunday, Nov. 8, at 4:44 p.m. the Meeker County Sheriff?Äôs Office received a report of a hunting accident. Information received was that a person had been shot in the leg while deer hunting in rural Litchfield Township. Meeker County Deputies, Minnesota DNR, Litchfield Rescue Squad and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the 23200 block of CSAH 1. Life Link Medical Helicopter was auto launched to the scene as well.
The injured party was identified as Dale Verner Fenrich, 58, of Litchfield. Mr. Fenrich is Meeker County Second District Commissioner. Mr. Fenrich was air lifted from the scene to HCMC for medical care with non-life
threatening injuries. The Meeker County Sheriff?Äôs Office has requested the assistance of the Wright County Sheriff?Äôs Office to investigate the incident. The investigation is active and on-
going; however, the shooting appears to be accidental.
