Motorists on Hwy. 55 between Eden Valley and Kimball should plan for traffic restrictions as contractor crews apply a bituminous seal coat to the pavement surface to extend the life of the roadway. Weather permitting, the work is scheduled to begin Wednesday, Aug. 11. This is one of several such projects scheduled for central Minnesota in the coming weeks. A pilot car and flaggers will control traffic, and motorists should plan for daily lane closures Monday through Friday. Drivers are urged to slow down and be alert for the workers and equipment during daylight hours. The seal coat and shoulder seal operations are expected to take two to four days each, over a three-week time period. Crews will be back from Aug. 20-27 to complete striping operations and pavement markings. For information on weather, road conditions or traffic incidents, call 511 or visit www.511mn.org. Road work on I-94 Work began Tuesday, Aug. 10, on an area of Interstate 94 (I-94) near St. Augusta. Right lanes on both eastbound and westbound I-94 are closed, and no wide loads are permitted. The full project includes the building of a new bridge over the freeway (for Stearns County Hwy. 75) and full interchange construction. The entire project is expected to be completed this fall.
