It was a ‘chocolate’ success!

·

Kimball and surrounding communities were treated to more than a night out Sat. Feb. 28. They enjoyed an evening at a “murder mystery dinner theater.” The murder mystery was the production of “Death by Chocolate,” a comedy by Paul Freed. The meal was professionally prepared and served by the Family Inn of Watkins, with volunteers serving the meal. The audience counts came in at just under 150 for the dinner theater and 117 for the Sunday encore presentation. The cast and crew consisted of 19 talented, local community members. The cast was in great form as they delivered the story. During intermission, the audiences were encouraged to vote for who they thought the murderer was. A lot of speculation gave way to only 11 of the audience members picking the true murderer. Of the 11 correct answers, one lucky winner was drawn to receive 2 free tickets to the Playhouse’s upcoming summer musical, “Oklahoma.” The cast and crew enjoyed their run of the play and felt that the audiences were a lot of fun to perform for. Many of the cast members are anticipating their next theater experience with the Kimball Community Playhouse. Special thanks go to the following businesses for their support: Family Inn, School District 739, Tri-County News, Journal Patriot, Gusto Graphics, Fireside Corner, and Becker Furniture Express. Kimball Community Playhouse will hold auditions in late May for their next production, “Oklahoma”, to be presented July 15-18 at the Kimball Area High School Cafetorium stage.
