James Hoskins of Camp Douglas, Wisc., formerly of Freedhem, Minn., died Thursday, May 20, 2004, at the V.A. Hospital in Tomah, Wisc. He was 85. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at the American Legion in Camp Douglas, Wisc. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 4, at Maine Prairie Cemetery in Kimball. A lunch will be served at the American Legion in Kimball following the graveside service. James E. Hoskins was born in Maine Prairie, Minn., Feb. 2, 1919, to Rob and Emma Hoskins. Hoskins served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged Oct. 29, 1945. He received two Bronze Stars, Good Conduct medal, World War II Victory medal, America Service medal, and an Overseas Service bar. He was also named Legionnaire of the year in 1984. James married Barbara Lieske Dec. 10, 1948. Hoskins was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, eight sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barb; sons Jim (and Brenda) Hoskins of Camp Douglas, Wisc.; Randy (and Kathy) Hoskins of Pierz, Minn.; David (and Carol) Hoskins of Nebraska; Lonny (and Dawn) Hoskins of Kendall, Wisc.; 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and loved ones.
