James “Jimmy” Bischof died Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, at his Watkins home. He was 86. 
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley with Rev. David Hennen and Rev. Aaron Nett officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, and parish prayers are at 7:30 p.m., all at the church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
James John Bischof was born April 17, 1932, to Nicholas and Tecla (Lauer) Bischof in Watkins. He proudly served our country in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. Jimmy farmed in the Watkins area all of his life and did some exceptional custom work for others. He was strong in his faith and was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley. Jimmy was proud of his farm, his John Deere tractors, and his extended family. He was outgoing, enjoyed shaking dice, loved to polka dance, and enjoyed playing drums in his family band. Jimmy was very neat, organized, helpful, and kind.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; brothers John, Joseph, Fr. Simon OSB, Richard Bischof, and infant brother Eugene; and sisters Mary Kay Utecht and Sr. Margo Bischof OSB.
He is survived by his sister Sr. Lorraine Bischof OSB of St. Cloud, brother-in-law Ernie Utecht of Shoreview, 14 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews, and many great-great nieces and nephews.
