James “Red” McKenzie, 88
James “Red” McKenzie died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, at his Kimball home, with family at his side. 
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 12, at Kimball Christian Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Maine Prairie Cemetery.
James Harvey McKenzie was born April 26, 1935, in his beloved hometown of Kimball to James and Elnora (Schacht) McKenzie. He grew up in Watkins along with his three siblings. Red was a 1953 graduate of Kimball High School. On May 5, 1956, Jim was united in marriage to Darlene M. Linn at the Kimball Church of Christ where they have remained members. Following his graduation, Red worked for Lakeland Bakery in St. Cloud; he began in sales, and retired as a sales supervisor.
Red was a man of many passions and pursuits. Red and Darlene loved to travel the country in their RV; he took pride in maintaining and cleaning his RV and vehicles. He also enjoyed camping, boating, and snowmobiling. Red relished being in the company of friends and family, sharing laughter and stories, and creating lasting memories.
Red was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Jeanetta Gross, Shelva Steman, and Jerry McKenzie.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Darlene McKenzie of Kimball; sons Jeff (and Diane) McKenzie of Watertown, and Jay (and Cathy) McKenzie of Ahmeek, Mich.; his two favorite grandchildren Andy (and Johnna) McKenzie, and Jenni McKenzie (and Matt Hengel); and great-grandchild Quinn
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the CentraCare Hospice team and to neighbors who supported Red and his family in his final days. Memorials are preferred to the Kimball Christian Church Building Fund. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Kimball.
