Notice of Application For A Livestock Feedlot Permit

Notice is hereby given per Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 116, that Janski Farms Partnership, has made application to the Minnesota Pollution control agency or the County of Stearns for a permit to construct or expand a feedlot with a capacity of 500 animal units or more.

 

The existing and/or proposed feedlot will be located at 3761 200th street South Haven, Minnesota on the Northeast corner of the property which is Sect. 3 of Fairhaven Township in Stearns County. The existing facility consists of 499 animal units or less consisting of 285 Holstein mature cattle (milked or dry) over 1,000 lbs, 100 heifers and 150 calves. These animals are housed in 8 different buildings all of which have cement floors. There is one building that houses approximately 20 calves between 300-500 pounds that has an open lot attached to it, the rest are all total confinement buildings. There is also a 12 ft x 108 ft x 12 ft poured reinforced concrete LMSA underneath a small portion of the dairy barn and a 1,000 gallon pre cast tank for milk house waste handling.

The proposed facility consists of adding a total confinement building with no additional open lots or manure storage areas. The proposed facility will be home to an additional 500 animal units worth of slaughter steer or stock cattle consisting of 209 slaughter steers or heifers, 330 feeder cattle, and 300 weaned calves. The total animal unit capacity will be 999 animal units.
