January minutes summary from Kimball School Board

The Kimball School Board held their regular meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022, beginning with the election of officers. All members held their same position as in 2021.

The consent agenda was approved including accepting the resignation of a sign language interpreter and hiring two replacement interpreters.

The principals reported on current activities around the high school building, District Advisory Committee meeting on Jan. 31, an update to spring course registration, Kindergarten Registration night Monday, Feb. 24, end of first semester Friday, Jan. 21, with elementary conferences Tuesday, Feb. 1, FASTBridge testing, and Character Strong activities.

Superintendent Widvey reported on construction update, advertising for an in-house substitute for second semester which starts Tuesday, Jan. 25, OSHA ETS update, and discussed setting up a Facilities Committee meeting.

The board tabled the proposed 2022-2023 school calendar, adopted revisions to Policy 513 – Student Promotion, Retention, and Program Design, and rescinded Policy 513.1 – Early Entrance. They approved a Leave of Absence request for a teacher and coach, and accepted the resignation of a part-time custodian. The proposed Flexible Learning Plan was tabled.

There was a closed session for attorney/client discussion along with final approval of a settlement as recommended by legal counsel.
