Jeanette Kahmeyer Leverty, 80

Jeanette Kahmeyer Leverty of Grove City died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at the Dassel Lakeside Community Home. She was 80.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Ostmark Lutheran Church in rural Watkins with Rev. Jean Smith officiating. Interment was in the Ostmark Cemetery.

Jeanette Wortz Kahmeyer Leverty was born Jan. 18, 1929, at the Watkins Hospital to Dewey and Lucille (Pancake) Wortz. She came into this world weighing only 26 ounces. She was raised on the Wortz homestead seven miles south of Watkins. She attended District 44 grade school and Kimball High School. She was baptized and confirmed at Ostmark Lutheran Church.

Jeanette married Ronald Kahmeyer Feb. 4, 1947 at the Ostmark Lutheran Church. They had three sons Duane Lyle, Steven Lee, and David Ronald. They resided in the Watkins and Grove City areas. Later, they moved to Victoria and then to Cologne where Ronald died in 1969. Jeanette then moved to Bloomington with her husband Larry Leverty. Jeanette worked in factories and as a waitress prior to owning her own restaurant. She loved to dance, travel and go fishing.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ronald and son Duane.

Jeanette is survived by her children Steven (and Suzanne) Kahmeyer of Chaska, David Kahmeyer of Morten, and daughter-in-law Sharon Kahmeyer of Maple Lake; grandchildren Rhonda (and Chris) Berscheit, Darren (and Monica) Kahmeyer, Troy (and Melissa) Kahmeyer, Tracey (and Tom) Schrempp, Clayton, Laura, and Melissa Kahmeyer; great-grandchildren Ashlyn Berscheit, Tannar, Cole, Bailey, and Adam Kahmeyer, Zachary (and Jenni) Kahmeyer, Lucas, Maxwell, and Mackenzie Kahmeyer, Connor and Colton Schrempp, and Kina Kahmeyer; sisters Cheryl Lund (and friend Issy Theilen of Richmond) of St. Cloud, Nancy (and Larry) Boreen of Grove City; many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Mabel Kohl, Luella Marquardt, Arlene Ruechert, Jenny (and Denny) Lietzau, and Betty Kahmeyer.

Music for the service was by Sandy Brown and Eric Swanson. Casket bearers were Dana Lund, Tim Boreen, Jason Boreen, Darren Kahmeyer, Troy Kahmeyer, Zachary Kahmeyer, and Clayton Kahmeyer. Arrangements were by the Ertl Funeral Home of Watkins.
