Jerome Roeser of Watkins died Friday, June 18, 2004, at the St. Cloud Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, June 21, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins with Rev. John Brunner officiating. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Jerome M. Roeser was born Sept. 25, 1922, in Watkins to Peter and Theresa (Storms) Roeser. He married Marie Schreifels Nov. 14, 1944, in Cold Spring. Jerome and Marie resided in Watkins. Jerome was a farmer, excavator, and owner of Roeser’s Butcher Shop in Watkins. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters, Watkins Lions Club, Watkins Senior Citizens, and the Meeker County Historical Society. He was the last surviving charter member of the Watkins Sportsmen’s Club. Jerome served on the Forest Prairie Township Board and was a St. Anthony Manor director. He was also a 23-year member of AA. Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, son Quentin, grandson Philip Ludwig, and brother Reuben Roeser. He is survived by his wife Marie of Watkins; children: Sandy (and Peter) Merten of Kimball, Carol (and Dick) Faber of Watkins, Peter (and Rosie) Roeser of Watkins, Jerry (and Sheila) Roeser of Watkins, Mary Kay (and Vern) Becker of Eden Valley, Teresa (and Paul) Lahr of Dassel, Margaret (and Michael) Ludwig of Northfield, Susan (and Keith) Hiltner of St. Cloud; 23 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brother Aubrey Roeser of Watkins and sisters Marie Schutz of Eden Valley and Verlett Spanier of Brooklyn Park. Casket bearers were Ken Merten, Shannon Faber, Sherman Roeser, Melissa Vee, Megan Becker, Patrick Ludwig, Kevin Lang and Isaac Hiltner. Music was provided by Cindy Kunkel and Peter Eltgroth. Arrangements were by Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins.
