Joan “Punkie” Fuchs of Rockville, formerly of Kimball, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, at her home under hospice care surrounded by the love of her family. She was 78. 
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at Kimball United Methodist Church in Kimball with Rev. Ken Felska and Fr. Robert Rolfes officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, and one hour prior to the service Saturday, both at the Kimball United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Maine Prairie Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
Joan Marie Fuchs was born Jan. 17, 1937, in Minneapolis to Leonard and Mary (Saukkola) Hokkanen. She grew up with her family in Kimball where she attended school. In 1954, Joan graduated from Kimball High School. She was united in marriage June 11, 1955, to Larry Robinson at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kingston. Together they raised their family in the Kimball Area. Larry preceded Punkie in death Sept. 30, 1988. Punkie worked for the Kimball Schools in the Community Education Department for 13 years. Oct. 22, 1995, she married Howard “Chub” Fuchs at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rockville. Prior to her retirement in December of 2013, Punkie worked for Target in the Guest Services department. Joan was a former member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kingston, and was a current member of the Kimball United Methodist Church. In her spare time, Joan enjoyed golfing, quilting, needlepoint, bowling and traveling. She often combined her bowling and traveling interests with bowling trips. She also sang with the Choralaires in Eden Valley. Punkie’s greatest enjoyment was the time she was able to spend with her family.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Larry Robinson; son Gary Robinson; and great-grandson Wyatt Hoefer-Linn.
She is survived by her husband Howard “Chub” Fuchs of Rockville; children Dawn Robinson of Waipahu, Hawaii, Rick Robinson of Big Lake, Robert (and Jennifer) Robinson of Albertville, and Terry Robinson of South Haven; step-children Paula (and Jeff) Benusa of Walker, Mark (and Judy) Fuchs of St. Cloud, Carla (and Brad) Torok of St. Augusta, and Kristina Fuchs of St. Cloud; 14 grandchildren Curt, Jeff, Brian, David, Kasee, Mitch, Jeanette, Janie, Jon, Kyle, Chad, Julia, Arielle, and Emily; seven step-grandchildren Elizabeth, Danielle, Matthew, Justin, Morgan, Evrett, and Grayson; eight great-grandchildren; siblings James (and Bernice) Hokkanen of Blanco, Texas, Janet and David Linn of Albertville, Jerry (and Vicki) Hokkanen of San Antonio, Texas, and Jack (and Marsha) Hokkanen of Las Cruces, N.M.; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
Jon Robinson, Curt Hoefer, David Robinson, Brian Hoefer, Mitch Robinson, Jeanette Kidd, Arielle Robinson, and Emily Robinson will serve as pallbearers. Jeff Hoefer, Kasee Robinson, Janie Kaneer, Kyle Robinson, Chad Robinson, and Julia Robinson will serve as honorary pallbearers. Ester Marks and Sandy Brown will provide the music for the service.
