Joel E. Berscheid of Kimball died on Thursday, May 29, 2003, from injuries received in a car accident in North Kingston Township, Meeker County. He was 20 years old.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 2, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Kimball with Fr. Frank Tomasiewicz officiating. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. Friends called from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Kimball. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Joel Ervin Berscheid was born Dec. 1, 1982, in St. Cloud to Duane E. and Renee J. (Marschel) Berscheid. He lived in Kimball all his life, graduating from Kimball Area High School in 2001. He was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church where he was an altar server for many years. Joel was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Squadron #261. He was currently employed by Labor Ready of St. Cloud. He loved the outdoors, fishing, music, movies, and the Wright County Swappers Meet.
Joel was preceded in death by his grandfathers Ambrose Berscheid and Arnold Marschel, and his uncles Eugene Berscheid and John Santone.
He is survived by his parents Duane and Renee Berscheid of Kimball; sister Shelly (and Gerry) Spoden of Hawick; grandmothers Alvina Berscheid and Leona Marschel, both of Kimball. Pallbearers were Tony Schmidt, Al Nelson, Lucas Brugger, Shawn Voigt, Kevin VanVleet and Brent Hamilton.
Music was provided by Frosty Schiefelbein and the St. Anne’s Choir. Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Kimball.
