Air Force Maj. Craig P. Johnson, son of Guy and Lois Johnson of South Haven, has been deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and assigned as a member of 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing headquartered in Balad Air Base, north of Baghdad. There are five contingency units attached to the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing. Johnson is assigned to the 732nd Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron, Detachment 10. The mission of the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing is to provide combat air support and power to U.S. fighting forces in Iraq, including airlift, airdrop, and logistics operations of troops, cargo, equipment and supplies, and medical transport and evacuation operations. The wing has the primary goal of supporting the national objective of assisting Iraq in its transition to democracy. Johnson is a 1985 graduate of Blaine Senior High School, and earned a master’s degree in 1996 from North Dakota State University, Fargo.
