Joseph Guetter of Wabasso died June 25, 2004, at the Wabasso Healthcare Center in Wabasso, Minn. He was 97. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso with Fr. John Pearson officiating. Interment followed in St. Anne’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Wabasso. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Monday with a rosary and prayer service at 7 p.m. at the church, and Tuesday one hour prior to services. Joseph Anthony Guetter was born Feb. 18, 1907, in Vail Township, Redwood County, Minn., to Joseph and Amelia (Hoffmann) Guetter. He attended St. Anne’s Elementary School. Joseph was united in marriage May 7, 1937, to Dorothy Lensing at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. Together the couple farmed until the summer of 1975 when they moved into Wabasso. Joe was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and a member of the St. George Society. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, riding bike, helping out at the farm, playing cards and bingo. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Anthony, John, George and Fr. Michael; sisters Sister Amelia SSND, Cecelia, Anna and Amelia; granddaughter Joy Schueller; sisters-in-law Elizabeth Guetter, Harriet Guetter and Armella Guetter; and brothers-in-law Nicholas Walter, Leo Walter and Leonard Fischer. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Dorothy Guetter of Wabasso; daughters Margaret (and Lawrence “Jack”) Schueller of Tyler, and Theresa Schefers of Kimball; sons Joseph (and Mona) Guetter of Panama City, Fla.; Thomas (and Mary) Guetter of Bloomington; David (and Nancy) Guetter of Commerce, Ga.; Francis (and Annette) Guetter of Wabasso; Michael (and Belinda) Guetter of Hutchinson; and Ronald (and Mary) Guetter of Willmar; 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; brothers Alois Guetter and Alphonse (and Mathilda) Guetter of Wabasso; sisters Katherine Tinglehoff of West Point, Neb., and Theresa Fischer of Wabasso; and sister-in-law Delores Guetter of Wabasso. Casket bearers were Joseph Guetter, Matthew Still, Steven Guetter, Jim Guetter, Bill Schueller, Josh Schefers, Amber Guetter and Emily Hassenstab. Lector was Lawrence “Jack” Schueller. Special music was provided by Bob and Mary Schueller, and organist Sherry Plaetz. Arrangements were by Redwood Valley Funeral Home, Kulow Funeral Service, of Redwood Falls, Minn.
