Josephine Ertl, formerly of Eden Valley, died Sunday, June 10, 2007, at her Cold Spring Home. She was 70.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley. Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Interment followed at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Eden Valley.
Josephine was born Feb. 17, 1937, in Spring Hill, Minn., to Aloys and Petrenella (Winter) Athmann. She married Sylvester Ertl Sept. 28, 1963, in Spring Hill. Josephine was employed at Valley Rest Home in Eden Valley where she cared for residents for many years. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley and was active with the Council of Christian Women. She also was a member of the Eden Valley American Legion Auxiliary and the St. Cloud Eagle’s Club #622. Josephine enjoyed baking, playing cards, and traveling. Cancer was diagnosed about five months ago, and Josephine became a participant with the St. Cloud Hospice program. Along with hospice and the help of her sister Marcie Welle, Josephine was lovingly cared for by her children at her home in Cold Spring.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Sylvester, and brother Stan Athmann.
She is survived by her children: Karen Wydo of Monticello, Douglas (and Sheri) Ertl of St. Cloud, Glen (and Pam) Ertl of St. Cloud, Wayne (and Ronda) Ertl of St. Cloud, and Nancy Ertl of Sauk Rapids; grandchildren Rachel and Travis Ertl, and Emily and Lauren Wydo; brothers and sisters Pat Kruzel of Eden Valley, Alice Athmann of Spring Hill, Marcie Welle of Melrose, Joey (and Lou) Athmann of Spring Hill, Tony (and Phyllis) Athmann of Benson, and Gene (and Carol) Athmann of Spring Hill.
Arrangements were by Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins.
