Julius Faber died Saturday, May 7, 2005, at his Watkins home with his family present, after a short battle with cancer. He was 77.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins with Fr. John Brunner officiating. Friends visited Monday from 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. until the service. Prayers were said at 4 p.m. on Monday by the Watkins Senior Citizens and Catholic Order of Foresters, Parish prayers followed at 5 p.m. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Julius was born in St. Nicholas April 19, 1928, to John and Margaret (Dockendorf) Faber. He married Dolores Bates August 5, 1950, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins. All his life he was a lumber man. He worked for Kaufman Lumber and Faber Building and Supplies. Besides raising his 10 children, he was active in many community organizations including the Catholic Order of Foresters, Catholic Aid Assn., Sportsmen’s Club, Cub Scout Master and Heartland Community Action board. He was also active with Forester activities including the church festival, bingo, bouja, church usher and food shelf.
Julius was preceded in death by his parents, son Gary, three brothers and seven sisters.
He is survived by his wife Dolores Faber; children Bonnie (and Mike Griffin) Faber of Minneapolis, Tom (and Linda) Faber of Watkins, Laurie (and Mike) Boggess of Minnetonka, Lana Faber of St. Cloud, Tim (and Jackie) Faber of Eden Prairie, Terry Faber of Watkins, Tony (and Theresa) Faber of Watkins, Julen (and Bob) Faber-Andrusick of Cold Spring, Ted (and Vickie) Faber of Cold Spring, Todd (and Heidi) Faber of Plymouth; 21 grandchildren; brothers Elmer and Homer Faber of Watkins, John Faber of Minneapolis, and Eugene Faber of Monticello.
Casket bearers were his sons Tom, Tim, Terry, Tony, Ted and Todd. Honorary casket bearers were members of his card group Lloyd and Joan Wortz, Don and Corrine Froehling, Eldred and Leila Froehling, Kenneth and Marge Hennen. Arrangements were by Ertl Funeral Home of Watkins.
