The K/EV-W team traveled to Southbrook Golf Course in Annandale, Monday, May 8, to participate in the 19th Annual Darrel Gunnarson Invitational. The boys met some tough competition and finished with a 364, taking ninth overall out of 14 teams.
Individual results for the day: Nathan Vossen, 88; Drew Gustafson, 84 (with one birdie on the day); Adam Sandquist, 92; Jack Bates, 100; and Branson Jensen, 123. The team (and Gustafson) tied for 16th place out of 72 possible, and Vossen tied for 23rd.
?ÄúThere has been some great improvement this meet, as we improved by four strokes from pre-sections, where we came in with a 368. I like to see that we are making strides in the right direction. We are wrapping up our season on a very busy note. The golfers are looking to finish strong, and we are shaping up to end on a high note,?Äù said Coach Zach Boser.
Tuesday, May 9, saw the team travel to Maple Lake?Äôs Whispering Pines, for a Central Minnesota Conference meet. The guys fared well on the course, and took second as a team with a score of 175, falling just two strokes short of BBE, with a 173. K/EV-W is currently first in the conference with a 20-stroke lead on BBE and Pierz. Nathan Vossen had an impressive round and got third individual with a 41. Highlights of the meet included birdies for Vossen and Adam Sandquist (44). Other individual results include Drew Gustafson (43), Jack Bates (47), Grant Kahlstorf (58), and Brenden Maurer (61).
?ÄúThe team is coping well with our busy schedule these last two weeks. We are hitting the ball well and making improvements leading up to and on the greens. We end this week at Little Crow in New London, for an 18-hole invitational before we wrap up with 4 conference meets next week. The team is looking strong and improving each meet,?Äù Boser said.
