Tuesday March 14, the KAHS Knowledge Bowl Varsity 1 team took fifth place at the sub-region competition held by Resource Training and Solution at Celebration Lutheran Church in Sartell. This is the second time in my five years as the Knowledge Bowl Coach to have a team advance to the region finals, last year I had a team take eighth place to advance.
Members of the advancing team (pictured) include Casey Gohmann, Caitlin O?ÄôBrien, Abbey Schiefelbein, Steph Hurrle, and Ben Zipoy (not Pictured). The team had an impressive last round, scoring an amazing 20 points bumping them from 10th place to their fifth place finish. The other varsity team consisting of Kaylee Hechtel, Kari Schiefelbein, Maicy Vossen, Emma Gobes, and Linn Habberstad did not make the cut-off to advance, but did well at the meet. The team will compete Monday, March 20, at the region?Äôs meet where they will be competing against other teams to earn spots at the state tournament.
