Alex Mies (left) and Kelsey Vigoren, both Kimball Area High School seniors, have been selected to represent Kimball Area High School in the Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award program recently announced.
Established in 1988, the Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award (Triple “A” Award) is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League. The award goes to high school seniors who have a “B” or better grade-point average and who participate in League-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities.
Vigoren participates in band, choir, speech, NHS, Letterwinners’ Club, cross country, basketball, track, and softball. In band, Vigoren has received a superior rating, and went to state in speech. In cross country, she has been all-conference in cross country, basketball, track and softball.
Mies participated in NHS, Track, FFA, Letterwinners’ Club, and Jostens’ Ring Committee. Alex is president of the art club. Alex enjoys hunting, fishing, skiing, and snowmobiling.
Triple “A” Award recipients are selected by a multi-level process involving the League’s member schools and administrative regions. League officials will announce the four award recipients (a girl and a boy from both a Class “A” and Class “AA” school) at an on-court recognition ceremony to be held Saturday, March 27. Each award recipient will receive a four-year $1,000 scholarship.
