At a special meeting Monday afternoon, Dec. 31, the Kimball city council accepted the resignations of Matt Serbus (public works) and Jenna Abel (police officer). Both had submitted their two-week notices last Friday.
In the case of public works, the job will be advertised until filled, with a first review Feb. 5. Ed Borman (who retired from that job) has agreed to come back as needed to help in the transition. Troy Hilsgen and Aaron Dahlinger will help plow streets, and Brian Mehr will continue to supervise the water plant.
Kimball is still looking for a new police chief, so replacing a police officer will have to wait. It’s possible that her replacement will be part-time instead of full-time.
