Kimball Area Historical Society Update

·

Summertime … no other season has such a gentle pace, allowing us the pleasure of unhurried pursuits. Reading, preferably with a glass of iced tea in hand, is just such a luxury … whether at the beach, under a shade tree, or in a gently swaying hammock. Take this copy of the “History Matters” column with you wherever you go and enjoy our introductions to some of our favorite people and places. Life is precious. All these small, ordinary, so-called meaningless incidents – each one is precious. We can assure you that the Kimball Area Historical Society will continue to pursue its mission with vigor on behalf of all of us in the Kimball area and for the benefit of future generations. Our most intimate example of culture and life come from our hometowns. We respect the diverse heritage of all who came here before us. We respect the many who built the homes, churches, schools, government and public buildings. We don’t take their work lightly. Our obligation to our children and the future includes our heritage. We must pass on what we inherited, and encourage respect for our heritage. And as summer winds down and autumn arrives, our need for community includes our many special places – some new, but many old. Our community of old and new, the places where we now live, carry a special link joining past with future. Preserve our past for our present and our future. Preserve our past for our children. Use historic preservation to build and strengthen community for all of us. Monday morning, Sept. 8, volunteers will return to Kimball’s historic City Hall to record and index Kimball area history. You are welcome to join us, so call if interested. Watch this column for announcements of our next project and meeting/programs. Kimball Area   Historical Society exists to preserve, protect and promote the Kimball area historic resources. For information or membership, contact the Kimball area Historical Society, P.O.
