1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a reading program designed to increase the awareness of early literacy, and to encourage parents to embrace their role as their child’s first teacher. Plus there are prizes. This program is ongoing, so you can sign up anytime. No limit, please come to the library to register. Popcorn and a Movie
Spring is nowhere in sight. Until it comes, borrow a DVD from our movie collection on Friday or Saturday through March 20, and take home a package of microwave popcorn to enjoy. Sponsored by the Kimball Area Friends of the Library.
LEGO Brick Building Challenge
This March, the library invites kids ages 6 to 16 to enter our LEGO Brick Building Challenge. Pick up the challenge rules, build an original creation, and bring it to the library to be displayed through the month of April. Rules and more information are available at the Kimball Library beginning

Stitchin’ Time
Bring your knitting, crochet, sewing, cross-stitch, quilting, or weave projects to work on at the library and meet others who share your love of fiber arts. All levels of experience are welcome. For adults. Mondays, March 6, 13, 20, 27 – 5:30-6:45 p.m.
Jigsaw Puzzle Tournament
Gather a group of four friends to form a team, select a team name, and enjoy a morning of puzzling fun.
Tournament rules:
• Each team receives the same 500-piece puzzle.
• No one sees the puzzle until the timer begins.
• Teams try to put the puzzle together the fastest.
• If there is no declared winner by the end of the time limit, the winner is chosen by the team with the fewest remaining loose pieces.
• In the event of a tie, teams will be given an additional five minutes to work on the puzzle.
• Teams are not allowed to distract or approach team tables when the competition is in progress.

Jigs & Jives, Celtic Music and Dance
Explore the music, stories, limericks, and lore of Ireland. Gain insight into Irish traditions and its impact of music and dance on American culture. This program features wind instruments and harps. Learn how to identify different Celtic dance rhythms. This program was made possible with Arts & Cultural Heritage Funds from Minnesota’s Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment. For all ages. Keep the Fun in the Sports Card Hobby
Learn what to identify and what to look for in collecting, and explore from the time it was truly collecting “baseball cards” to opening the door to all sports. Tom Sommers will touch on the world of grading, and visit some of the most expensive cards in the hobby. It is not always about chasing the money, but the fun of collecting. Please bring questions. Doug Ohman – Going to Work: The New Deal in Minnesota
The creation and roll-out of sweeping economic programs, in response to the Great Depression created great hope and expectations in the country. Join Doug and explore the legacy that remains in Minnesota from these programs such as the WPA, PWA, CCC, NYA, and the VCC. Let’s Think Spring! Bird in a Nest Clay Project
Learn to sculpt and create texture while creating your favorite bird and a nest out of clay. Finish off your work with colored underglaze. These pieces will be fired at Rumriver Art Center and returned to the library within three weeks for display and pick-up. For all ages. Limit 18. Registration required.
