Kimball baseball results

May 29, 2007 Kimball 7 – ACGC 6 Kimball Cubs Baseball team traveled to ACGC for the first round of playoffs and in an upset, Kimball beats ACGC in 8 innings. Kimball started the game well, jumping out to a 6-2 lead, but after a 20-minute rain delay, ACGC battled back into it. Kimball pitcher Matt Dingmann went three strong innings, and reliver Admam Magnuson came in to keep the game at hand. In the top of the eighth inningn senior pinch-hitter Ricky Massman draws a walk, then steals second base and sophmore shortstop Travis Rose moves him up to third with a sac hit. Senior Jason Tenney then comes in to hit a single down the third base line to drive in Massman from third. The Cubs came out in the bottom of the eighth and shut down the Falcons to get the playoff win. May 31, 2007 Kimball 4 – Litchfield 2 In the second round playoff game, Kimball set out to avenge a earlier in the season 10-run rule loss to Litchfield. The game started good for the Cubs after a lead off double by senior Jason Tenney. The Cubs were able to score two runs in the first. Adam Magnuson pitched a great game, going the distance and recording his second win of the playoffs. The boys wanted this game, and they went out and took it. We may only have had four hits, but it was the aggressivness on the bases and the willingness to put the ball in play that gave us the win. Everybody is having a good time and we are just going game by game. With it’s second straight upset, Kimball advances to the section championship to face Paynesville at HL. Also by winning against Litchfield, Kimball is now in the Sub Section Double Elimination Tournament at Faber Field in St. Cloud for the right to play to go to state. The boys deserve a lot of credit, we talk about respect and pride and gaining it back for Kimball High School Athletics everyday, they went out and are definitely earning it back. Sub Section 5AA District 20 Championship Game June 1 at Howard Lake Kimball 2 – Paynesville 6 Kimball High School Baseball played in the Sub Section Championship game, after two upsets victories earlier in the week. The Cubs had a rough first inning allowing three runs to score and were unable to get back into the game. Matt Dingmann pitched very well, they just hit the ball hard. We hit the ball well too just always at somebody. Paynesville played well all around and took the win away from the Cubs. Kimball put a rally together in the 6th when senior Jeff Hunt hit one off of the top of the fence, but couldn’t put more hits together and fell short. We made a good run at the Sub Section title, beating the #3 seed and the #2 seed, but ran into a tough #1 team. Being a runner up says a lot about the charecter of our ball club, they never gave up and came back through a lot this year. We may have lost Sub Section, but are still alive and play for the right to go to State. We are three wins away from State and if we can put a run together again, we are a very tough team to beat.  Kimball batting: Steve Lochen 2-3 2SB, Jeff Hunt 2-4 SB RBI, MAtt Dingmann 1-4 RBI Record: 8-14 Kimball moves on to Section playoff play where they will face Norwood-Young America at Faber Field in St. Cloud on Monday, June 4 at 5 p.m. Nathan Schwieters, KAHS Head baseball coach
