Kimball Bloodmobile Thurs., July 30

·

The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be in Kimball from 1-7 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at the Kimball Area High School cafetorium.

All blood donors will be required to present two forms of identification. A blood donor card, driver’s license, work ID, or two forms of IDs, such as Social Security card, personal check or credit card will be accepted.

There will be two double-cell units available for those who are able to do a double donation, which takes a little longer.

With parental consent, 16-year-olds are able to donate blood. There is a fact sheet to read, and a signature of a guardian/parent is required. Those 17 years old and older do not need parental consent, there is NO upper age limit, as some might have assumed, as long as the donor is in good health.

All blood donors are required to present an identification card, but, if you have previously donated, bring your Red Cross donor card.

To donate, you must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, and there must have been at least 56 days since the last whole blood donation, or 112 days since the last double red cell donation.

Remember to eat well and drink plenty of fluids before donating blood.

Many people are on some type of medication for various reasons. Most medications are acceptable. Many individuals have had heart problems or even cancer, but may still be eligible to donate blood. If you are uncertain, you may ask the medical personnel at the blood drive or call the Red Cross at (800) GIVE LIFE (448-3543), and press option *6 to speak with a consultant.

Please consider donating blood. Many people need blood daily for various reasons. It is a great gift and it takes about an hour of your time.
