The Troop participated in the Holiday Lights Parade sponsored by the Kimball Chamber in November, which is always a fun time. We also had a successful Christmas Tree selling season. Thank you to everyone who purchased a tree from the Boy Scouts.
Members of Troop 357 are: Eagle Scout William Serbus, Eagle Scout Jonny Serbus, Ethan -Erpelding, Nathan Just, Blake Kiffmeyer, Tyler Kiffmeyer, Garret Ludlow, Nick Spoden, Troy Edwards, and Hunter Freeman. Alex Ludlow went from Boy Scout to an Adult Scout in the group as he turned 18 (Happy Birthday Alex!).
The Troop made plans to host a fun winter campout at the -Kimball Rod and Gun Club, where they will work on the American Heritage Merit Badge and play board games March 10-12. The Troop also made plans to attend Many Point Scout Camp this summer. Most members of the Troop traveled to Annandale to take the new Citizenship in Society Merit Badge Class that is required for Eagle Scout with the Annandale Boy Scout Troop.
We also had officer elections at this past meeting. Our Eagle Scouts William Serbus and Jonny Serbus will serve as Troop Guides; Troop Guides serve as both a leader and a mentor to younger troop members. Blake Kiffmeyer will be our new Senior Patrol Leader who is responsible for leading meetings of the troop and providing valuable leadership in planning and carrying out the troop’s program of outdoor activities, service projects, and events. Ethan -Erpelding will be his Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. The Assistant Senior Patrol Leader is the second highest youth leadership position in the troop, working closely with the Senior Patrol Leader to help the troop move forward. The Assistant Senior Patrol Leader acts as the Senior Patrol Leader in the absence of the Senior Patrol Leader. Tyler Kiffmeyer will be the Patrol Leader of the Falcon Troop (we have two patrols in the Troop, Wolves are the older boys, Falcons are the younger boys). They keep their patrol intact so they can work together and share responsibilities to get things done. It is incumbent upon them to be a good example for the members of their patrol and the rest of the troop. Nick Spoden has been voted Assistant Patrol Leader. He leads the patrol for the Falcons in the absence of the Patrol Leader. Quartermaster is Garret Ludlow. Quartermasters serve as the troop’s supply boss. They keep an inventory of troop equipment and see that the gear is in good condition. Nathan Just is the Chaplain aide, he will lead the troop in opening or closing prayer and mealtime blessings. Chaplain aides ensure that religious -Holidays are considered during the troop’s program planning process and promote the BSA’s religious emblems program. Hunter Freeman was voted as Scribe. The Scribe is the troop’s secretary. Troy Edwards is the Honor Guard, presenting flag ceremonies.
Every Friday night the Boy Scouts as well as nine other organizations from Kimball, sell Meat Raffle tickets at SOBs at
5:30 p.m. sponsored by the -Kimball Fire Department.
We also have a can trailer at Casey’s (currently snowed in), we hope to get dug out soon. Thank you for your continued support for the Boy Scouts.
The next meeting will be Sunday, Feb. 19, at the Kimball Rod and Gun Club at 12:30 p.m., new members welcomed. The Boy Scouts are always looking for new members grades 6-12. If you know someone who would be interested in Boy Scouts, email Scoutmaster Matt Serbus at cserbus@meltel.net or just show up at the meeting.
