Tuesday, March 28, the Kimball Scouts had their Annual Blue and Gold Ceremony, where Cub Scouts (fifth-Grade Webelos) transition to Boy Scouts. During the first part of the ceremony, our one Webelos took part in the ?ÄúArrow of Light?Äù and crossover ceremony which was conducted by the ?ÄúOrder of the Arrow?Äù group from the Northern Star Council. The ?ÄúArrow of the Light?Äù displays a universal symbol for the sun and below it an arrow. The seven rays of the sun stand for each day of the week, they remind us to do our best every day as we follow the arrow that leads
to Boy Scouting. Our newest Boy Scout is William Serbus, son of Matt and Carly Serbus.
In the second part of the ceremony, Mike Erpelding, Cub Scout Master, handed out the many awards, pins and achievements for all the Cub Scouts. Then, Bill Liedman, Boy Scout Master, presented the Boy Scouts with their awards. Bryce Nehring earned his final two merit badges so he can begin the paperwork on his Eagle Scout Project.
Also, there was a very special presentation made to a Scout who has demonstrated his commitment to the Scout Oath and the Scout Law?Äôs twelfth point – ?ÄúA Scout is Reverent?Äù. Riley Matthiesen became the first Kimball Boy Scout to earn the ?ÄúAd Altare Dei?Äù religious badge which also earned him another Eagle Scout designation. So not only was he the 16th Eagle Scout of Kimball, but he is also the 17th Eagle Scout. He became the first Scout to earn two Eagle Scouts Recognitions for Kimball. Riley earned the designation Saturday, March 4, 2017. He was presented with the religious emblem square knot, and he will be presented with his medal at his Eagle Scout Court of Honor in May. Riley will be representing Kimball and Troop 357 at a Mass at St. Mary?Äôs Basilica in Minneapolis, Saturday, May 20.
