Kimball boys bump Huskers, beat Lions

·

The Cubs went on a terror last week, beat conference-leader Holdingford on Thursday, Feb. 9, 59-49, quashing their undefeated, 12-game winning streak. On Friday, Feb. 10, Kimball, celebrating senior night, demolished Ogilvie, 91-31.

(Holdingford Game) The Cubs jumped out to an early lead and increased it after a 13-0 barrage. Kimball turned up the defense early on. Hayden Gagnon guarded Holdingford?Äôs top scorer and held him to four points on the night. In the second half the Huskers made a run and cut the deficit to four, but that was as close as they got. Weston Hine hit two big free-throws down the stretch to help seal the win.

?ÄúI was very happy with our team defensive effort. Offensively we were a little rattled by their pressure when they made their run. This was a great signature win for us,?Äù said Coach Jay Klein. Cubs?Äô Scoring: Darius Westrich 10; Del Guerrero 18; Hayden Gagnon 13; Drew Gustafson 12; Levi Sodergren 2; Weston Hine 2; Michael Hoffman 2.

(Ogilvie Game) The Cubs had 32 assists and 19 steals, as all 14 Kimball players scored in the game; which was 55-11 at halftime. Guerrero finished with 10 points, Hine had 12 and Westrich cashed in for 16. ?ÄúIt was a great night for our seniors on ?Äúsenior night,?Äù Coach Klein said.
