Kimball boys jolted by Jaguars

Down by just five points at half-time (36-31), the Kimball basketball boys had reason to believe they were right in the game versus Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa on Thursday, Jan. 4. Unfortunately for the Cubs, the rest of the game belonged to the Jaguars, and their 41-point second-half display was more than enough to earn a 77-56 victory.
Kimball stats
Carson Otto, 3 points; Peyton Hooper, 10 points, 3 rebounds; Bryant Knaus, 9 points, 3 rebounds; Owen Mortenson, 10 points, 3 rebounds; Jed Spaulding, 12 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists; Andray Stang, 6 points, 3 rebounds, 4 steals; Brandon Henkemeyer, 5 points, 3 rebounds; Ronald Arnold, 1 point, 2 steals.
“We started out slow, as they built a double-digit lead early in the first half. As our defensive intensity picked up, we were able to chip away at the lead and tied it at 29 with about four minutes left in the half. We went into the break trailing by 5, but the second half was a struggle. Our shots were not falling, we did not take care of the ball, and our defense was too slow to react, as BBE built a 20-point lead, and that was that,” said Coach Jay Klein.
BBE stats
Hayden Sobiech, 27 points; Luke Dingmann, 14 points; Luke Illies, 11 points; Kaden DeRoo, 10 points; Taylor Pieper, 7 points; Jordan Herickhoff, 4 points; Josh Walstrom, 2 points; Dominic Ramos, 2 points.
