Kimball boys rolling at right time

Two down ?Ķ one more to go in the Cubs?Äô regular season. The Kimball boys continue to impress on the hard court, as they handled a good Foley team by a convincing 70-44 final tally Tuesday, Feb. 21.

Though the final score does not reflect it, the game was close throughout most of the first half. Perhaps the Falcon?Äôs decision to change its defensive strategy was their Achilles heel, as the Cubs immediately went on a 10-0 run, to end the first half of play. That was all the momentum needed for Kimball, as they coasted to pay dirt.

?ÄúI was very pleased with our defense when we switched to the 3-2 zone. We were able to take away a lot of shots they were getting out of their man offense. We rebounded very well, especially offensively,?Äù said Coach Jay Klein. Cubs?Äô Scoring: Darius Westrich 16; Del Guerrero 13; Hayden Gagnon 18; Keali?Äôi Kapoi 2; Drew Gustafson 12; Levi Sodergren 4; Weston Hine 4; Michael Hoffman 1.

Thursday, Feb. 23, Kimball finished off the week with a 78-46 victory over Paynesville. Kimball jumped out to a 10-0 lead and did not allow Paynesville to score the first five minutes of the game. The Cubs?Äô defense played very well and they led 41-17 at the break. In the second half, Kimball built a lead and they were able to freely substitute the rest of the way. ?ÄúThis is the first 20 win season the Kimball boys have had in over 20 years,?Äù said Coach Klein. Cubs?Äô Scoring: Darius Westrich 20; Hunter Ahlrich 3; Del Guerrero 8; Hayden Gagnon 19; Drew Gustafson 11; Noah Jurek 2; Levi Sodergren 2; Parker Peglow 2; Riley Miller 2; Michael Hoffman 9.
